What is the APDA?

 

The American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc. was founded in 1961 to “ease the burden and find the cure” for Parkinson’s disease. Headquartered in New York, the organization focuses its energies on research, patient services, education and raising public awareness about the disease. The 2007-2008 fiscal year research awards totaled more than $3.5 million dollars including the funding of 9 Centers for Advanced Research. In addition to its $30 million research funding since its inception,, APDA has contributed more than $28 million to patient and caregiver support through its networks of 62 Information & Referral Centers and 800 support groups across the country.
